Seeing as almost every other professions forum has one of these, might as well make one here:

So, Trolls:

Why?
To compete with Mystic Regen? but they've nerfed that.
Trolls is a staple of any ranger bar, and has well been documented as one of the best heals in the game.

so, why buff it in such a way?

(dont get me wrong, i freaking love the 13secs of uber regen)

I don't know, it will not change a lot, at 3 seconds cast, TU can't really compete with anything, but it succeeds in doing it's job.

It was a nice, unnecessary buff that will improve playing for Rangers, no more or less.

izzy totally missed the mark on all the updates to self heals. troll unguent should look like this:

5e 2c 10r
for 5 seconds, you gain 4...8 health regeneration. when this skill ends, you are healed for 20...100 health.

the problem with troll is that it takes too long to cast, not that it doesn't heal enough.

the point it's 13 now is so that at 10s recharge and 3s cast it's up 100%. it just makes more sense.

Dunno though, I'm no pro.

That and I think that in the long term they are trying to move the community as a whole into the guild wars 2 mind-set of making solo play (no henchies) a viable option, with all classes having reliable self heals.

That sounds almost perfect, though just dumping the ending heal and resetting it to 10 seconds would be very nice too.

yes restful breeze lasts longer and casts faster but you can't so much as breathe with it on you or it will end

its a great skill for sins as we use it wen our attack chains are in their down time but for most profs the skills regen isn't worth not being able to activate skills/breathe

I've used restful breeze over TU before....since the 3 sec cast on unguent is just as inconvenient (IE you may as well totally flee combat to use it) the only difference is that you will get more heal from restful with less attribute points (which only matters if your skimping on Wilderness)

Nowadays I use neither....I rely on not getting hurt and party healing to get me by (mending touch being my only self healing)

Right, and since most Rangers are /Mo for access to Mending Touch might as well use restful for the cheap investment. I have also used Shadow Refuge for a cheap self-heal before... it has the same benefit as Restful over TU, better healing with less attribute investment, and no 3 second long eternity of waiting for the skill to go off. (and Shadow Refuge still allows you to attack)

Long story short for me, Troll Unguent Buff is meaningless....A-net wants me to use it then they need to fix the hideous cast time. (over 2 sec. cast and it is not going to be on my ranger bar- I quite literally dont have time for it)

restful = enchant, and work if you don't use skill nor attack => useless for ranger.

2s cast would make troll a bit overpowered though.

I didn't think the 3s cast was much of a problem considering the immense return, now it even can be upkept.

Thought you Ranger d00dz and d00dettez only used Troll screened by NatStride neway?

theres nothing wrong with it being an enchant, asides the probably of it getting removed (thats not a real issue though, but if it's corrupt enchanted it is). Anyhow there are times when ur out of energy as a ranger, and u need a time to replenish energy / hp / run away. i dont think u even understand how great restful breeze is-.-

restful works poorly with natural stride, which singlehandedly makes it bad on a ranger.

Trolls:
1. only 2 energy at 13 expertise
2. constant +8 regeneration at WS 8
3. Non-Removable
4. Melds very well with Natural Stride.
5. Self Targeted

Restful Breeze:
1. 5 energy because it is a spell
2. Constant +10 regeneration
3. Ends if you attack or use a skill (hence your useless while under this enchantment)
4. Removable
5. Can be casted on Party Members.

To complete different skills, hardly any relation whatsoever. (they both regenerate health Whoopie /endsarcasm)

Also, if you are in trouble enough that you can't use TU, you or your team screwed up.
